Audiometric testing is an evaluation of a worker's ability to hear. Hearing conservation is an important health and safety issue in noisy workplaces. The Alberta Occupational Health and Safety Code, Part 16 requires that employers ensure noise-exposed workers undergo audiometric testing.
This testing is to be done within six months of initial hire, one year following baseline or initial testing, and every second year thereafter. Training, use, and maintenance of hearing protection equipment required to be used at a work site is an additional requirement as per the Alberta Occupational Health and Safety Code, Part 16, Section 222 (2a).
At Primary Medical Services all audiometric testing is conducted by qualified Audiometric Technicians, using the latest in audiometric technology and the highest quality commercial sound booths, to ensure accurate, reliable, and reproducible results.
